What to Expect
During your DOT physical or FAA Aviation Medical Exam, your provider will review your health history, medications, and any relevant medical conditions. The exam may include required screenings such as blood pressure, vision, hearing, urinalysis, and a physical exam.
For FAA exams, your provider will also confirm which certificate class you need. Class 2 certification is required for commercial pilots, including those flying for compensation such as charter or agricultural operations, and is valid for 12 months. Class 3 certification is required for private, recreational, and student pilots, and is valid for 24 or 60 months depending on age.
If you meet the required standards, your provider will complete the necessary DOT or FAA medical certification documentation.
